Manufacturer of silicone parts | Advantages of silicone

TopsilGlobal is a manufacturer of silicone parts. Silicone is an organosilicon material containing alternating silicon and oxygen atoms in the main chain. The most important features of silicone, which determine its usefulness in the most responsible tasks in various industries, include durability, flexibility, excellent shape memory and resistance to high and low temperatures. Silicones are also characterized by hydrophobicity, non-flammability and stability of physical and chemical properties in a very wide temperature range, from -50°C to 230°C.

Silicone parts are increasingly used in many areas. They are used in industries such as automotive, electronics, medicine and the food industry. In the automotive industry, they are used, among others: for the production of silicone gaskets and cooling system components that must operate in extreme temperature conditions. In electronics, they are often used to produce insulators or elements enabling heat dissipation. In medicine, they are used, among others: for the production of implants and surgical tools. However, in the food industry they are often used to produce cake molds or chocolate molds.

Characteristics of manufactured silicone elements

Silicone elements perform perfectly in difficult and changing conditions, e.g. as seals in car engines, airplanes or construction. The physiological neutrality of silicone allows it to be used in tasks requiring a sterile environment, especially in medicine, in contact with the human body or in food-related areas.

These features result from the fact that silicone rubber - as the only one among all functional elastomers - does not contain carbon atoms in the polymer main chain. The macromolecule is composed of alternately arranged silicon and oxygen atoms, creating an extremely stable structure, analogous to quartz or glass. This different molecular structure results in the specific properties of silicone products:

  • durability over 50 years
  • maintaining flexibility in the temperature range from -100°C to +350°C
  • outstanding resistance to thermal, atmospheric and UV aging
  • no hardening over time because their flexibility is a structural feature of the polymer and not the result of modification with plasticizers
  • anti-adhesive surface properties protecting against dirt and bacteria accumulation
  • hydrophobicity, enabling e.g. repeated sterilization by boiling
  • possibility of obtaining vivid and durable colors
  • small permanent deformation after repeated compression
